It’s hard to beat the beauty of the Oregon Coast, with its endless stretches of white sand beaches, majestic rock formations, and towering cliffs. It’s not just all jaw-dropping beauty, though… the coast is also a whole lot of fun, and there’s a festival coming up that’s the perfect example.
Lincoln City is a pretty town with about 8,500 residents and plenty to see and do. You'll find it almost directly west of Salem, nestled right on the coastline.
Every year, Lincoln City hosts two kite festivals; one in the spring, the other in the fall. The Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival will be held at the D-River Wayside State Park on October 6th and 7th, 2018.
Get there plenty early and park at the Lincoln City Community Center or Lincoln City Outlets and take the shuttle. It runs in a loop every 20 minutes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during both days of the festival.
Watch them navigate their colorful, intricate kites as they dip, dodge and tumble in the sky above. The Featured Fliers perform from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Kids of all ages will want to compete in the Running of the Bols from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.. See who can run the fastest while tethered to a huge, donut-shaped kite.
