As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
The Metolius River bubbles up from some crystal-clear springs, at the base of the magnificent Black Butte. It’s a consistent, chilly 48 degrees Fahrenheit, and its water level is consistent too. This beautiful river is well-known for its excellent fly-fishing and beauty, so its no wonder that Lake Creek Lodge was built right on its banks.
The lodge is open year-round, and there’s plenty of outdoor recreation in the area to keep you occupied, even during cold winter months. Better yet, there’s a half-price discount from October to April!
Lake Creek Lodge has long been a favorite spot for folks eager to get far from Oregon's cities for a quiet, relaxing vacation on the river.
...and the cabins seem even cozier. Lake Creek Lodge has 21 cabins, and each is unique. Some are historic cabins built decades ago; others are more modern and luxurious.
The cabins all include a cozy sitting area, with a delightful mix of antique and modern furnishings. Many include a fireplace or wood stove, and all have a full kitchen for preparing meals.
Snuggle into your comfortable bed every night while the snow falls. The smallest cabin is perfect for a romantic stay; it accommodates just two guests. The largest is perfect for a family or group of friends, with room for seven.
There's a restaurant right here, too! During the summer, it's open every day, but during winter months it's only open on select days. Call ahead to find out if you'll be able to enjoy a meal here during your stay.
Some kinds of mayflies start hatching in the river as early as January.
There are plenty of winter trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the area, too. If you're feeling ambitious, make the climb up to Black Butte. You'll want to bring some traction cleats in case of icy conditions, and don't forget your camera!
For a more moderate hike, choose the Canyon Creek Meadows Loop. The trail is fairly easy most of the way; it only gets steep as you near the top of Three Fingered Jack. You'll want snowshoes for this trail.
In case you needed yet another reason to visit Lake Creek Lodge this winter, how about a discount? Between the months of October and April, winter guest receive 50 percent off lodging!
