Oregon’s towns are as diverse as its landscape. You’ll find a 100-year-old rodeo in Pendleton, and a history that goes back to 1811 in Astoria. Some towns have beaches; others have fresh mountain air or acres of vineyards. Recently, the site Big 7 Travel named the most charming small town in every state, and we can’t agree more with their choice for Oregon. Check out the pretty little town of Jacksonville:
You'll find the quaint little town of Jacksonville just west of Medford. Founded in 1851, it was one of Oregon's first gold-mining towns. Today, it's home to around 3,000 residents.
There's a lot of history in this little town. Take a walk through downtown to see some of the historic buildings. Stop in at Beekman House Museum, and consider taking a haunted history tour.
...and you'll definitely want to check out some of the wineries in the area. Pictured is Red Lily Vineyards, where you can enjoy a stroll and wine tasting.
Visit Lavender Fields Forever to explore seven different varieties of fragrant lavender. Bring a picnic lunch along, and consider taking a workshop or tour while you're here.
Jacksonville is a little gem that has a lot to offer. Explore its history, agriculture, and outdoor recreation, and make plans to come back again soon.
