Mothers Bistro & Bar in Portland isn’t a traditional diner by any means, but most would agree that it qualifies as one. Mother's Bistro & Bar is a wonderful place to dine at any time of the day. Lisa Schroeder, the owner and executive chef, opened it back in 2000 on Stark Street; it later moved to its larger, current location inside the Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel downtown.
Despite being so widely known and celebrated, Mother's Bistro still manages to feel personal and homey. You'll love dining here and it is no wonder it's so popular with everyone, including its celebrity guests.
The breakfast menu is vast and includes everything you might possibly want for breakfast. From pancakes to French toast to frittatas to oatmeal, everything is prepared perfectly.
The Omelet of the Day is
a popular menu item. It includes three eggs plus whatever the chef wants to add that day. It comes with potatoes and toast on the side.
Like most diners, the sandwich menu is extensive. Choose from options like a ham and swiss, burger, meatloaf, corned beef Reuben, chicken sandwich, and more.
How about going to Mother's Bistro for dinner? Between Dungeness crab cakes, chicken and dumplings, slow-cooked pulled pork, and more, you're going to wish you had more room in your belly to try everything.
On top of all of that, there are always specials, as well. This shiitake-crusted red snapper with white bean purée, spinach, pine nuts bacon, and Chianti vinaigrette is one example. Wow!
This ancho chile-rubbed grilled flank steak with corn and cheddar griddle cakes, marinated cherry tomato, and chimichurri sauce is another. This entree is spectacular!
