Located approximately 10 miles east of Sixes, Oregon, the Sixes River is a prime place to pan for gold. There is also a camping site open during the summer months if you want to make a weekend of it.

Hidden in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains about 18 miles southeast of Cottage Grove, Sharps Creek Recreation Site is prime gold panning territory. The site consists of a small campground and a day-use area overlooking Sharps Creek. The Rogue River is one of the longest rivers in Oregon and flows for over 200 miles. Visitors can pan for gold, fish, and take guided boating trips.
