Are you looking for a remote getaway? We have just the place for you! It’s a unique hotel that’s full of charm and history, and its backyard is Steens Mountain, which is absolutely gorgeous and full of recreation opportunities. It might be a long drive to get here, but it’s well worth it!
The Frenchglen Hotel State Historic Site is the perfect place to get away from it all. It's located in the southeastern part of the state, about 60 miles south of Burns.
The hotel was built back in 1916, when Swift & Company Meatpackers needed a place to house visiting businessmen. The hotel that stands today was built in 1923.
The hotel was renovated, and an addition added in 1938, and it was given one more remodel in 1975, a few years after the Oregon State Parks System acquired it.

This place hasn't changed much since its last remodel, and in many ways, a visit here is like going back to a much simpler time. When you check in, you'll be given a room assignment, but not a key - this is a friendly place where no one locks their doors.
You won't find a TV or Wi-Fi here, so bring a book and leave your electronics at home. After all, you're here to get away from your life's stressors, right?
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily in the front dining room. Expect to find delicious, home-cooked meals like pot roast, baked chicken, and mashed potatoes. The desserts are every bit as delicious as the main course, so save some room.
Frenchglen is a tiny town with a population of just a dozen or so people. In addition to the hotel, you'll find a two-room schoolhouse and a small general store.
A stay at the historic Frenchglen Hotel is a unique opportunity to truly experience the thrill of getting away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life.
