Set aside some time this summer to get out and explore the Drift Creek Falls Trail. Located in the stunning Siuslaw National Forest, this beautiful trial in Otis, Oregon is begging to be explored. Bring a loved one and share the magic you’ll find hiking to one of the most popular waterfalls in Oregon !
There’s peace in the outdoors, so if you need to escape for a bit to experience the silence of the forest, then head on out to Drift Creek Falls Trail.
The lovely little trail is easy to hike and the payoffs are enormous. An easy out and back trail will bring you right to the base of Drift Creek Falls.
You’ll travel through the Siuslaw National Forest as you make your way to the waterfall.
You’ll find the trees towering up and above you. The area is a beautiful way to spend a morning or afternoon, and the trail is an easy 2.6 miles total.
If you find the trail a little difficult there are many benches to stop and rest on along the way.
The elevation gain throughout the whole trail is only 462 feet, so you shouldn’t experience too many steep areas. The trail may be muddy though, so be prepared with appropriate footwear.
When you arrive at the falls you’ll actually be able to hike all the way down to the bottom of them.
Break out the camera, or just stand and take in the sights. The suspension bridge you’ll cross is an adventure all on own, simply from the views it offers.
Due to the stunning beauty of the falls and the relative ease of the trail, you’ll want to do this hike during the slower moments of the day.
Head out early in the morning, or plan on a rainy day. The falls are just as ethereal and the crowds are significantly less.
You’ll want to get onto Forest Service Road 17 to find the trailhead.
This road will bring you all the way to the trail. There is a $5.00 fee per vehicle, so make sure you have cash or a NW Pass.
This is one trail that absolutely belongs on your bucket list.
No matter what season you visit these gorgeous falls, you’ll love every step you take to get there. Get away from it all and escape to this magical forest.
