If you’re a burger-lover with a big appetite, you’ll want to head to Cottage Grove for one of the biggest burgers you’ve ever seen. Most of the Chuck Wagon Burgers at Bonanza Drive-Up are 1/3 pound, but the Double Ponderosa Pounder Burger is two whole pounds of fresh ground beef!
Who's in the mood for a burger? Hop in the car and head to Cottage Grove, where you'll find Bonanza Drive-Up.
Address: 505 State Highway 99 South, Cottage Grove, OR 97424
There are two reasons to visit this little hole-in-the-wall burger joint: the burgers, and the ice cream. The menu has two different categories of burgers: the original burgers, and the Chuck Wagon burgers.
Chuck Wagon burgers are all made with local, Willamette Valley grass-fed beef. They're hand-pattied and served on a butter-grilled bun. Most of the burgers on this part of the menu are 1/3 pound.
The Ponderosa Pounder Burger is made with a full pound of delicious, fresh-ground beef. And when you add a second patty for just $3.99 more, you get two full pounds of juicy burger.
Get your Double Ponderosa Pounder with crinkle-cut or curly fries. Either way, it's a whole lotta burger. You can see one of the drive-in's smaller burgers next to it for size comparison.
You definitely need to get a shake while you're here. The Old Timey Milk Shakes are made with premium Umpqua soft serve, and are mixed with all kinds of flavors. Customize your shake with several mix-ins.
If you order the large or extra-large shake to dine-in, they'll serve it to you in the metal mixing cup.
Other tasty treats include chocolate, vanilla, and twist cones, huge rootbeer floats, banana splits, and cyclones - Umpqua ice cream with candy mixed in.
