Oregon loves its independent bookstores. In fact, we’re home to the largest independent bookstore in the world! While Powell’s is amazing, there are tons of other great shops all around the Beaver State, and this one, featuring Virginia Woolf on its logo, is one of our favorites.
Welcome to Bloomsbury Books! This adorable little shop opened in Ashland in 1980, and it's been a favorite of readers ever since.
The shop is named after the Bloomsbury Group, a small group of influential writers who met in the Bloomsbury area of London in the beginning of the 20th century.
Members included Virginia Woolf, Clive Bell, E.M. Forster, John Maynard Keyes, and others who would shape the movement from the Victorian age to the modern age. Virginia Woolf is on the logo of Bloomsbury Books.

Bloomsbury has a great selection of children's and young adult books, too, so bring your little readers along for the trip. The best way to get your kids interested in reading is to show them the world of possibilities, and this shop has plenty of titles to intrigue them.
