As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Do you remember the good old days when your mom would take you and your friends to Blockbuster Video so you could choose a few movies for your sleepover? Most people will never have that experience again, since the company closed its stores in 2014. There’s just one remaining Blockbuster Video in the entire world, and it’s located right here in Bend.
The owner of the store is offering three overnight stays to locals this fall, and if you live nearby you’re going to want to see if you can get in on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step back in time to the 1990s.
The last Blockbuster Video on the planet is still surviving, even during a pandemic. The store is typically visited by tourists from all over the world, but local residents also do their part to support this video store.
To say "Thank you" to the community, the owners have decided to offer the store for three overnight stays in September. If you're a resident of Deschutes County, you could be one of the lucky guests!
You can bring up to four people along for a sleepover on September 18th, 19th, or 20th.

You'll feel as though you've been transported right back to the 1990s when you walk through the door. The "living room" area is set up with an old-school entertainment center and vintage television. You'll have the full selection of thousands of DVDs, VHS tapes, and video games.
The pull-out sofa is all dressed up in 1990s bedding, but we can't imagine that you'll actually sleep during your stay! We recommend napping during the day so you can stay up all night long to binge watch favorite movies from your pre-teen sleepover years.
There's also an inflatable mattress so that all four guests can lounge comfortably. You'll have access to the employee restroom, but there's not a shower available.
A sleepover wouldn't be complete without bags of Doritos, two-liter bottles of Pepsi, and boxes of classic candy, included with your stay.
The Airbnb.com listing will accept bookings on Monday, August 17th at 1 p.m. PST. If you're one of the lucky people to snag a one-night stay, you'll pay just $4 for the privilege!
Just like the sleepovers you hosted in junior high, this one comes with just a few rules. First, you must be a resident of Deschutes County (and have the photo ID to prove it). No parties are allowed - just you and three others who also live in your household (to minimize risk of Covid-19). You must confirm that you haven't traveled outside of Oregon for at least 14 days before your stay, and you shouldn't be exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 when you arrive. Check-in is at 9:30 p.m.; check-out is at 9 a.m. the following morning. Smoking and pets are not allowed.
Do you qualify for one of these overnight stays at Blockbuster Video? If so, make sure to check out the Airbnb.com listing for more details!
If you aren’t one of the three lucky people to get a reservation for the night, you can still support the world’s last Blockbuster Video. Check out its website, and shop its online store for Blockbuster Video swag (most of the swag offered in the shop is made locally in Bend). You can also stop by to say hello the next time you’re in the area. The store will keep its 1990s living room set up for awhile so you can check it out, too.
