I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
If you’re searching for great seafood in the Beaver State, you don’t have to look far. Here in Oregon, we are lucky to have access to an abundance of fresh, flavorful seafood. Wild salmon, Albacore tuna, Dungeness crab, shrimp, oysters, and rockfish — you’ll find a bounty of amazing catches along the Oregon Coast. While there are numerous exemplary places to go for seafood, there’s one town that’s particularly flush with fresh coastal catches. Newport is a tiny town on the Central Coast that’s a big presence in the Oregon seafood scene, boasting delicious fresh-caught fare on pretty much every corner!
Nestled in the heart of the Central Coast of Oregon, Newport is your quintessential PNW port town, with charming, weather-worn buildings, tons of water recreation...
...and an abundance of seafood. Seafood festivals, seafood restaurants, seafood shacks... you'll find fresh catches available on every corner of this Oregon Coast town.
If you're on the hunt for the best clam chowder on the Oregon Coast, you'll find it at Mo's. Mo's chowder is legendary in The Beaver State, with folks standing in long lines for a big, ole bowl of this crave-worthy meal.
It doesn't get any fresher than Local Ocean Seafoods, which literally catches their daily specials in Newport's Historic Bayfront, located right across the street from the restaurant! Great views, fresh fare, charming ambiance... what more could you ask for?
Next up, there's Ocean Bleu Seafoods at Gino's, an adorable ramshackle sea shack where dining truly is an experience. If it's nice, definitely sit outdoors on the quirky little patio!
In terms of fare, you'll find all the seafood classics on the menu, but we recommend going a bit bold with your choice. Kalamari and Chips is the tastiest twist on "fish and chips" that we've ever tried! Delicious.
