Oregon’s Willamette Valley is an acclaimed wine country that’s home to an abundance of world-renowned wineries and vineyards. But if you’re a city dweller that doesn’t have time to plan a trip to the country, there’s an Oregon winery located mere minutes from Portland. Amaterra is a breathtakingly beautiful winery with some of the best vintages and vistas in all of Oregon, and it’s an escape to Wine Country that’s located in the state’s largest city.
There's nothing better than a trip to Oregon Wine Country; the Willamette Valley a flush and fertile land where grapes thrive and wineries flourish.
But you don't have to venture to the valley to enjoy an Oregon Wine Country experience; simply visit Amaterra, a winery located just minutes from Portland.
The winery opened in Portland's West Hills in spring 2022, and is a sweet little escape to Wine Country. From its perch atop a fir-lined slope off Swede Hill Road, Portland's skyline dazzles in the distance.
And the 12-acre Amaterra is a world unto itself that contains all the pieces of the winemaking puzzle: a glorious vineyard complete with a gravity-flow, 10,000-case winery.
Pair a charcuterie with your wine, and you have the ultimate Oregon happy hour. This bespoke board includes the Chef’s selection of two cheeses and two meats, pickled vegetables, dried fruit mostarda, seasonal fruit preserve, and crackers.
In addition to wine tastings, dinner is available at Amaterra, too.
