There’s a fairly common misconception about the state of Oklahoma: people tend to believe that the state is nothing more than flat land, wind turbines, and tornadoes. Well, we’re here to promise you that it isn’t; there are lots of absolutely breathtaking places around the state, and this one is truly exceptional.

Nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Lake Tenkiller, also known as Tenkiller Ferry Lake, is a gigantic, crystal-clear natural lake located in east-central Oklahoma.

When we say gigantic, we mean it! The lake boasts over 13,000 acres of water and an incredible 130 miles of shoreline.
There are two state parks which the lake is a part of: Tenkiller State Park and Cherokee Landing State Park.

The parks have seemingly endless activities to keep you and your family busy. If you can dream it, you can probably do it.
Such activities include, but are not limited to, fishing, camping, golfing, hunting, and, of course, water recreation and sports.

If camping is the name of your game, you can take your pick between more sophisticated campsites (ie, ones with electricity hookups and sewer access) or more primitive ones. It's up to you to craft your Tenkill adventure!

At various points of the year, many kinds of migrating creatures pass through Tenkiller Lake and are able to be viewed.

Some of the critters you can watch include Canada geese, bald eagles, ducks, and even Monarch butterflies. Make sure to look up the times of year for each migration- you won't want to miss them!
If camping and otherwise roughing it isn't your style, there are also some breathtaking and luxurious resorts nearby the lake.
