In Oklahoma, there are always more interesting and unexpected restaurants to be discovered. Southern Belle Restaurant is an old-fashioned rail car in the small town of Heavener that has been converted into a unique dining experience. The Southern Belle transports visitors to days gone by and serves some of the meanest fried chicken we have ever tasted.
No longer in service on the railroad, this authentic rail car was in use until the 1960s and now houses a dining room that people from all over the state can't wait to have a meal in.
The fried chicken and fried chicken strips are truly something you have to taste for yourself. The hand-breaded chicken has become legendary for anyone who has had the pleasure of eating it.
Once inside, you will discover how unique this restaurant really is. Southern Belle has done everything possible to keep this interior as original as it was when this train rolled down the tracks all those years ago.
While the fried chicken gets top-billing here at Southern Belle Restaurant, the steak is one of the best we have found also. This ribeye with baked potato is scrumptious.
One of the best appetizers on the menu are the loaded cheese fries covered with multiple cheeses and bacon. Of course, ranch is available upon request and goes great with these amazing fries.
The desserts here are homemade and are something you do not want to skip. This incredible pie with Heath Bar topping is super tasty and worth every calorie.
