Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry (ROMP) is not your typical museum. It’s probably the tiniest museum you’ll find in the state and one of the coolest places to visit if you enjoy reading…especially poetry. Take a road trip and check out this interactive museum that’s filled with poetry, games, and everything unique.
Just off U.S. Highway 412 in Locust Grove, you'll see a little sign with the letters ROMP - pointing you in the direction to the little museum.
It's a non-profit organization dedicated to allowing everyone to have an experience of poetry. This humble little place is filled from corner to corner - and you'll love everything about it.
There is so much to do in this little space. You could spend hours letting your imagination run wild. They encourage you to make crafts, enjoy the space, and write poems.
One cool current exhibit to check out is Poems in the Pasture - a walking meditation and poetry-writing, thinking or reading exercise in the field next to the museum. (Please check with the museum before visiting to see if this exhibit is open.)
The museum is located 2 miles west of Locust Grove on 438 Rd. between 550 Rd. and 560 Rd. All county roads are clearly marked. Click here to visit their website for more details.
