Miami, Oklahoma, pronounced "My-am-uh," is located on historic Route 66 in northeast Oklahoma. Spelled the same as the Florida city but does not sound the same.

Tahlequah "Tah-le-quah" is located in beautiful northeast Oklahoma. Besides having a thriving university, Northeastern State University, it is also the capital of the Cherokee Nation.

Prague, pronounced like "Hague" is often confused with the Czech country of which it is named after. Czech immigrants founded Prague, OK in 1891 which leads to the confusion.

Wynnewood pronounced "Winneywood" has become quite famous lately due to the incredible popularity of the Netflix documentary "Tiger King." Although, this has not made pronouncing Wynnewood any easier.

Poteau pronounced "po toe" is located in extreme southeast Oklahoma and is most well known for having the world's tallest hill. Don't let this quirky name deter you from visiting this charming town.

Checotah pronounced "Sheh-cow-tuh" is most famous for being the home of American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. But even the biggest Underwood fan probably still struggles to pronounce this one.
