Have you ever wanted to hang out with cowboys? Stroll through the doors of a dusty saloon? Or maybe ride a seven-story steel thrill ride?
A trip to Oklahoma’s oldest amusement park will get you all that and more. Read on to learn more about visiting Frontier City for a dose of fun and nostalgia.
Frontier City has been in business for more than 60 years. It’s the oldest amusement park in Oklahoma!
It first opened in 1958 as a western-themed attraction featuring a haunted farm, mine train and gunshows. Visitors were admitted for free but had to pay a quarter to watch the cowboys battle it out.
There are plenty of rides down on the ground, too! Hop on one of the family-friendly rides or even watch from the sidelines with a big bucket of kettle corn.
Frontier City also plays host to numerous concerts throughout the summer at the Starlight Amphitheater, as well as the biggest Halloween festival in Oklahoma.
If the wild, wild west is what you came for, you won’t be disappointed. The park still has regular cowboy shows that feature some pretty cool explosions.
