Have you ever wondered what it takes to predict the wild, wild weather in the Sooner State? Or perhaps you’re a weather buff and you’re obsessed with meteorology? If so, head to Norman for an educational (and downright cool) tour the National Weather Service.
All tours require a reservation and can be taken on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday at 1 pm. Tours last about 1.5 hours and are free of charge.
The National Weather Center Building is located in Norman on David L. Boren Boulevard and is a partnership between the University of Oklahoma and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The NWC tour is a walking tour, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Cameras are allowed so you'll be able to capture all the fascinating things you'll see.
The tour includes a visit to the McCasland Family Observation Deck, School of Meteorology, the NOAA/NWS Storm Prediction Center, the NWS Norman Weather Forecast Office, and the National Severe Storm Laboratory.
Address: 20 David L. Boren Boulevard, Norman, OK, 73072
