When you think of Oklahoma’s terrain, a desert isn’t what normally comes to mind. However, as a state with one of the most diverse topographies in the country, it isn’t too surprising to find out we have a desert-like area in Little Sahara State Park. Visiting this area is an experience unlike any other, but so worth the adventure. Keep scrolling for more details on this must-visit state park in the Sooner State.
One of the most unique topographies in the state lies within Little Sahara State Park in Waynoka, Oklahoma. It is not only a favorite spot for ATV riders, but it is a spectacular place to visit to enjoy a desert-like scenery full of sand dunes.
A viewing platform has been built for sightseers who wish to stay out of the dunes. You can walk along the path and enjoy the dunes from the distance or check it out from the zoom binoculars.
The area of Waynoka has several places to rent 4x4 vehicles or you can bring your own. The cost to get on the sand is only $10 per person (not including the rental price of vehicles).
Amenities in the park include more than 100 tent campsites, RV hookups with electric and water, and seasonal concessions. This desert setting in northwestern Oklahoma is stunning and comes highly recommended by past visitors.
