Lake Murray State Park, Oklahoma’s first and largest state park, is a spectacular place to visit for vacation-goers looking to do it all. Not only is there plenty to outside, but there are indoor activities as well. Take a look at everything it has to offer:
Lake Murray State Park is located on the shores of Lake Murray in Ardmore, Oklahoma. It houses over 12,000 acres of astounding beauty around the lake and is known for its iconic centerpiece, Tucker Tower.
While Oklahoma is home to many great state parks, Lake Murray State Park stands out above the rest due to its state-of-the-art facilities and array of activities.
There is one scenic highway that wraps around the entire park. Just follow Highway 77S and you'll run into all the attractions within the park.
Visitors can choose to stay in a variety of overnight accommodations. The park offers everything from rustic to luxury, and everything in-between.
Bring the R.V. and stay in a beautiful site right on the lake. Or pitch a tent and enjoy the fresh air. With over nine different R.V. campgrounds and 500 tent sites, the possibilities are endless.
There are also several cabin rentals available for overnight guests. Choose from one of 56 cabins that sleeps anywhere from 2 to 12 guests.
But one of the most impressive places to stay is in the newly built Lake Murray Lodge.
This gorgeous lodge features 32 rooms, all with lake views. Each room can accommodate 4 guests, so bring the kids along and enjoy this great place!
Just look at the captivating views from their on-site restaurant - the Blue Heron. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, so you don't even have to leave the park to eat.
Check out Lake Murray Water Sports and Mini Golf for an afternoon of fun on the lake. They feature water trampolines, water slides, kayaks, waverunners, boat rentals, and an 18-hole miniature golf course.
Plus, there's a fishing pier that offers the perfect spot to cast a line.
They even have 1,000 acres of trails for ATVs, motorcycles and dirt bikes.
Indoor activities include a visit to the spectacular Nature Center. Visit Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30am-4:30pm.
The museum features floor to ceiling windows and educates visitors on a variety of topics.
Another great feature is the sandy beaches you'll find around the lake. They are not easy to find in Oklahoma, so when you do, enjoy them!
Bring your hiking boots and enjoy their extensive trail system. There's plenty of hiking and biking experiences, so plan on spending a lot of time exploring the great outdoors.
