If you’re looking to experience a piece of the “Old West” and true “western hospitality,” head to Island Guest Ranch in Ames. It’s one of the oldest guest ranches in Oklahoma located on what was once an actual island in the Cimarron River and it’s perfect for a weekend getaway.
Island Guest Ranch is part of Island Ranch and Cattle Company that's been in existence since The Land Runs of 1889 and 1893. They are located in northwestern Oklahoma in the small town of Ames.
There's also a 3,000 sq. ft dining hall that's the gathering place for all guests. The Western atmosphere and decor will make you feel like you're in an old western film.
Island Guest Ranch is located at 67043 E County Rd #55, Ames, OK. From Ames, follow the “farm to market” road W to Cimarron River bridge. Ranch road on S side of highway and E side of bridge; follow signage.
Another great place to getaway and enjoy the countryside is Buffalo Creek Guest Ranch, a 1,000-acre working cattle ranch in Talihina, Oklahoma. This ranch offers a bed and breakfast package in a gorgeous log cabin home nestled in the scenic Ouachita National Forest. Read more about it here.
