A new holiday extravaganza has opened in Downtown Sapulpa with a dazzling light display that’s filled with Christmas spirit. The Route 66 Christmas Chute is a walkable Christmas wonderland featuring over 35,000 lights within 10 different chute themes. You can walk along Route 66 under magical canopies and shop from pop-up shops and local businesses, and enjoy some hot cocoa and treats. Every weekend features different events filled with Christmas magic, so gather the family and head to Downtown Sapulpa where you’ll find the Christmas spirit on every corner.
The Route 66 Christmas Chute just opened on November 3, 2022, and will run until January 1, 2023. The event is so new that pictures are sparse but here's a photo during construction. The finished product is so more extravagant than this shot...just wait until you see it in person!
Looking for a unique holiday experience after walking under the chutes? If so, you can rent a private igloo and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa by the fire while hanging out with friends and family. Reservations are highly suggested but they are also available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Every weekend there are special events so be sure and check their calendar on the official website or follow along on their Facebook page. Local businesses stay open later during the event so you can also shop or eat in downtown.
If you’re looking for a place to stay overnight in Sapulpa, check out this cool Airbnb that used to be the Old City Hall. It’s located in the heart of the action and has a beautiful, gourmet kitchen.
