There’s a short hike that will take you to the top of Gloss Mountain and offers panoramic views of terrain you don’t typically see in Oklahoma. Gloss Mountain State Park (sometimes called Glass Mountain) is located in Major County, near the city of Fairview. It's open 365 days a year for hiking, from sunrise to sunset.
Once you're on top of the world, walk around the plateau and enjoy the magnificent views in every direction. Across the way, you'll see Lone Peak Mountain displaying its vibrant red color.
One of the most spectacular things about Gloss Mountain is its shiny glass exterior from the high selenite content in the mountains. When the sun hits it, it shines and looks glossy (hence the name).
