The highest point in Oklahoma – Black Mesa – is located in the town of Kenton in the far northwestern portion of the Panhandle. It’s the perfect place to go for a rugged Wild West experience and you’ll want to visit as soon as possible. Take a look at this one-of-a-kind destination that will take you a million miles away from it all.
Kenton is located in Cimarron County in the far western tip of the Panhandle. It's the only community in the Sooner State that observes Mountain Time. But that's not the only thing that makes it special.
The trail includes 2 miles through mostly flat valley, 1 mile climbing to the top of the mesa, then another mile on top of the flat mesa area. And don't worry, the trails are clearly marked.
Kenton has one store, a few B&B's, some ranches, a post office and magical views. We recommend staying the night on your visit since it's pretty remote.
