Oklahoma truly is a beautiful state and it really shines in the fall when most of the state turns shades of vibrant red, orange, and yellow. Southern Oklahoma is always a popular destination to see the fall colors, but northeastern Oklahoma is equally as beautiful. If you travel along the Osage Nation Heritage Trail, you’ll see magnificent beauty along this 70-mile route. You can hike, drive, and bike along different portions of this trail. Check it out below:
The Osage Nation Heritage Trail begins in Ponca City and travels along Highway 60 to Bartlesville. It's a 70-mile route that is beautiful year-round, but magnificent in the fall.
Start your journey in Ponca City - a thriving town full of history and outdoor beauty. Tour Marland Mansion, visit Standing Bear Museum, or walk downtown and see many historical buildings.
Between Ponca City and Bartlesville you'll travel through Osage Hills, Pawhuska, Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, charming small towns, and beautiful landscape.
The stunning colors and landscape will take your breath away. Since the route is 70-miles long, you'll be driving, but we recommend getting out of the car and hiking.
