Oklahoma has a few haunted hotels that are sure to keep you up at night. Spend the night at any of these hotels and you might experience some paranormal activity from a few residents that decided to take up a permanent residence at these establishments. Here are a few haunted hotels in Oklahoma that might give you some nightmares:
Numerous ghost stories have surfaced over the years about this historic hotel. Many know the famous downtown ghost as Effie. Legend has it that Effie was a maid at the hotel who had an affair with the owner and became pregnant. He locked her away on the 10th floor to avoid a scandal and she became so distraught that she jumped to her death with the baby. Effie is a naked woman who propositions male guests, visits them in the shower and slams doors in the hotel. Many guests have also reported hearing screams from a wailing baby. The haunted Skirvin has become widely known to the opponents of the OKC Thunder Basketball team. Effie has spooked several NBA teams during their stay at the hotel...at least she appears to be an OKC Thunder fan!
This Victorian mansion is a cozy bed and breakfast that looks so charming at first glance. The Inn was previously a funeral home and was purchased in 1986 by Becky Luker. With the help of her 2 sons, Becky converted the home into an Inn and soon found that there were other occupants in the house. Doors would open and close, footsteps up and down the back staircase could be heard and toys were being played with at night. Legend says that the former residents, the Houghtons, lived in the home in the early 1900's and their daughter, Augusta, died in the home at the age of 8. They believe the ghosts are the former residents and the toys that are played with at night are Augusta playing with them.
Paranormal activities have been experienced by guests at this hotel on the campus of OSU. Reports from guests range from seeing mysterious glows and shadows, lights turning on by themselves, cold breezes being felt and doors unlocking and locking on their own.
