Sitting in the town of El Reno is Historic Fort Reno, one of the most haunted places in the state. It’s the site of an old military post that’s been rumored to be haunted by visitors and paranormal investigators. Take a trip to this town to experience its haunted nature up close and personal.
Historic Fort Reno is known as one of the most haunted places in Oklahoma due to the countless stories of paranormal activity over the years. It's an old military post that began in 1874 as a safe haven for the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes during the Indian Wars era and as a German POW Camp during World War II.
Today, it's a museum and historic center open to the public for tours. As an establishment with more than a century worth of history, it's no surprise this place is rumored to be haunted with old souls.
In fact, there have been so many encounters with ghosts between the workers, volunteers, and visitors, that they finally decided to start offering ghost tours.
Many of the same buildings that were originally built still stand today. And it's been reported that restless spirits have taken up residence in these historic buildings.
If you choose to take the haunted tour, you will walk the grounds of this historic and haunted place. You'll split up into groups and follow your guide as they take you to most haunted spots.
One of which is the cemetery on the grounds. The tour guide will also tell stories of those who were laid to rest in the graveyard.
Throughout the years, there has been an overwhelming amount of paranormal activity reported from visitors, workers, and paranormal investigative teams.
Some of the paranormal activity reported, includes apparitions of children, doors mysteriously opening and closing, cold spots felt and weird images showing up on film. Phantom sounds from soldiers have also been heard in the cemetery on site. And men in soldier uniforms have been spotted too.
Historic Fort Reno offers a great Visitor Center, gift store and history museum at an entry charge of $2 for kids, $5 for adults, or $4 for seniors. View the parade grounds and other buildings still left on the historic grounds if you have the courage to visit this haunted place.
