Jörg Kühne, a businessman from Munich, Germany, dreamed of bringing the unique atmosphere and cuisine of a Bavarian brew pub to the United States. In 1992 his dream was realized at Royal Bavaria in Moore, Oklahoma.
The 5.5-acre property is home to a 5,000 sqft building that houses the 8 barrel brew house as well as the restaurant. During the nicer months large tents outside house additional guests.
The menu is bursting with traditional German dishes like bratwurst and schnitzel. The Oktoberfest Brez'n Plate features a selection of pretzels imported from Munich and served with Bavarian cheese spread and mustard.
Some patrons find the location of Royal Bavaria odd because it's in an area of farmland without other businesses around. But Kühne was especially adamant about the location, as most traditional brewhouses are found in the country.
The beers on site are brewed exclusively with whole grain malt, German yeast, Hallertauer hops and untreated water from their own well. These ingredients follow the guidelines of the “German Beer Purity Law” of 1516.
