The oldest Italian restaurant in Oklahoma still operating today is the beloved Pete’s Place in Krebs. The town of Krebs is known as Oklahoma’s Little Italy due to the influx of Italian immigrants that settled in the town in the late 1800s. As a result, the town grew to over 2,000 residents and restaurants began popping up…one of which was Pete’s Place in 1925. After being open nearly 100 years, it still uses many of the same recipes brought over from Italy. If you’ve never had the pleasure of visiting this Italian restaurant that’s been around forever, we recommend putting it on your dining bucket list.
Pete's Place is located at 120 SW 8th Street in Krebs, just outside of McAlester. Look for the yellow house with green door and you'll know you've arrived.
It officially opened in 1925 after "Pete" Prichard perfected Choc beer - his very own creation he brewed right in his home - along with authentic, Italian family recipes.
Today, the restaurant still serves the same Choc beer and fabulous family recipes that came over with Pete from Italy. It has stayed in the family for over four generations, which is a testament to its great service and delicious food.
