Looking for a unique experience to channel your inner pioneer? If so, book an overnight stay in a covered wagon at Robbers Cave State Park and enjoy a glorified camping experience in the most beautiful setting. This Old West camping excursion is sure to make memories for years to come.
Robbers Cave State Park is an 8,246-acre park that has two lakes, a creek, miles, and miles of hiking trails, caves, hilly woodlands, camping, and much more.
It also comes with a mini-fridge, microwave, dresser, and a few chairs. It's a luxurious camping experience that feels like you're stepping back in time in the best way possible.
But with several modern amenities, you're camping experience will be more like a glamping experience. The restrooms and showers are within walking distance, so you will have to "rough" it a little. The wagon rents for $65/ night with a 2-night minimum stay required on the weekends.
They also have a traditional campground with yurt rentals and cabins, so there are plenty of overnight accommodations to choose from in the state park.
The scenery here is second to none. If you love being out on the water, then you will want to go canoeing on this spectacular lake. It doesn't get crowded so it's the perfect spot to enjoy calm waters.
Hiking to the aboveground caves is one of the coolest things to do here that you can't do in other state parks in the state. The caves are hidden in sandstone hills and cliffs.
To book an overnight stay, visit their online booking site. Once on the site, click the “tent areas” yellow button then click Equestrian B, then choose the CW001 option.
There are only a few areas in the state that have caves with hiking trails leading to them, and one of them is in Robbers Cave State Park. To learn more about hiking to the caves, check out our previous featured article.
