Adding to the list of cool and unusual things Oklahoma is known for is a 50-foot tall leg lamp statue that pays tribute to “A Christmas Story” movie. Head to Chickasha, Oklahoma, and you’ll now find a permanent statue of a sexy leg downtown. It was built to honor the artist who inspired this iconic lamp that the world has grown to love over the years.
Downtown Chickasha is now home to a permanent statue of a replica of the sexy leg lamp from the movie "A Christmas Story." It sits on a 10-foot crate labeled "fragile" and is quite a sight to see.
If you're wondering what is the tie to Oklahoma, a local (late) resident, Noland James, designed the lamp many years ago and put it in his office. The producer of "A Christmas Story" saw the lamp and used the idea in his movie.
The town of Chickasha wants to be Oklahoma's Christmas town and we sure think they are a top candidate. Nearby the novelty lamp is the Chickasha Festival of Light, a top ten holiday light show in the nation.
You'll find over 3.5 million twinkling lights, a Ferris wheel, ice skating, carriage rides, camel rides, a food truck park, and much more. The festival ends on December 31, 2022, so be sure and get there before the year ends to see all the sights and sounds of the Christmas town.
