Do you remember the hamburger chain Big Ed’s? It opened in the 1970s in Oklahoma City and grew to 46 restaurants in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, before dwindling down to its last location in OKC. The recipes are still the same. The name is still the same. And the food is still just as good. They have one of the best GIANT burger experiences in the state and you’ll want to visit the last remaining location.
The last remaining Big Ed's Hamburgers is located at 12209 North Pennsylvania Avenue,
Oklahoma City. The current owners keep it open as a tribute to Ed, the founder of Big Ed's. They were store #14 and still reference themselves as No. 14, even though they are the last one standing.
This location opened in 1984 and still looks just about the same inside. The black and white checkered floors, orange-vinyl chairs and wood panel walls give it a retro vibe.
Don't worry, you can also order a quarter pounder with double meat and cheese and all the goodies. They also have combo specials that come with a drink and side of fries.
But that's not all you'll find on the menu at Big Ed's. They have a great assortment of sandwiches that include hot ham, smoked turkey, polish sausage and hot links.
Even their salads are delicious and made to order. They offer a chicken strip salad, a grilled chicken salad or a side salad with Italian ranch, honey mustard or balsamic vinaigrette.
Check out the lasting memory of Big Ed and his delicious food, Monday - Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 pm. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:330 pm.
