Just when you thought you couldn’t find any bbq better in the state, you get introduced to Back Door Barbecue in Oklahoma City and everything changes. Imagine amazing smoked brisket stacked tall with jack cheese, smoked onions, mayo, and bourbon bbq sauce on a brioche bun. If your mouth isn’t watering yet, keep reading to see more delicious bbq sandwiches at this incredible restaurant.
Back Door Barbecue is located at 315 Northwest 23rd Street in Oklahoma City. They are open Monday - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
You can park out front or there's plenty of parking in the back. Turn off 23rd Street, down the alley to the big lot, then follow the smoky deliciousness to the back door.
The dining room is cozy and a bit rustic. There are booths and tables, including a centrally placed bar height table that can accommodate a large party.
Then decide what cheese and other toppings you want to layer it with. All sandwiches are served on a brioche or ciabatta bun, but if you want Texas toast, just ask to substitute.
They also make a "beastwich" - the daily sandwich special. Pictured below is the sliced brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeno-sausage-queso on a brioche bun. Anyone else drooling yet?
