Ghost towns can be found all around the Sooner State and are fun to explore in every season. I personally enjoy exploring them in the fall when the mosquitoes aren’t chasing me around and the sweltering heat is long gone. There’s an unusual one in a wooded area that’s a bit eerie, yet beautiful at the same time.
Check it out below:
Fallis, Oklahoma, is a town in Lincoln County with a population of just over 25 residents. If you're driving along the Turner Turnpike, it's about five miles northwest of Wellston.
As you explore you town today, there's still remnants of this once populated place. Around the time of statehood there were over 350 residents living in Fallis.
The area is heavily wooded with beautiful trees that turn red, yellow, and orange in the autumn. While you're exploring, see if you can find the hidden school bus abandoned in the woods.
A large portion of the town burned down in 1960 sending many residents to find homes elsewhere. If you're looking to get outside in the beautiful fall weather and explore a piece of Oklahoma, the ghost town of Fallis is a great place to check out.

There’s an abandoned ghost town in Oklahoma that is considered one of the most toxic places in America. Picher, Oklahoma, was deemed a Superfund site by the EPA as a result of years of mining and dumping mountains of tailings, called “chats,” on top of the ground. Take a look at this eerie, drone footage that was captured this year by Drone Dude.
