Some baked goods are worth the extra effort to get. There’s a charming store in Chouteau – Amish Cheese House – that’s further to get to from the big cities, but it’s filled with premium meats and cheeses and thousands of incredible Amish goods from around the country. It’s the perfect spot to stock up on holiday gift baskets, baked goods for seasonal parties, and of course, their famous homemade fudge.
Amish Cheese House is one of Oklahoma’s little hidden gems tucked away in northeastern Oklahoma that is filled with more yumminess than you’ll know what to do with. It's a general store, cafe, deli and ice cream parlor all rolled into one charming house.
The large General Store features rows and rows of Amish goods from around the country. Some are homemade right here in Oklahoma, while others are brought in to bring you a large selection of quality goods.
On top of all this, they also make homemade ice cream. Right now you can try one of their holiday favorites -Holiday Mint Ice Cream - it’s like Christmas in a bowl.
You'll find Amish Cheese House at 101 South Chouteau Avenue in Chouteau. They are open Monday -
Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Check out their Facebook page and website to see a full list of everything this place has to offer.
If you can’t make it to Chouteau, there’s a bakery in Claremore you have to check out. If you’re traveling along Route 66, keep an eye out for a small bakery tucked away off to the side on a small dirt road. Check it out because it’s one of the best bakeries around!!
