A road trip might once have been considered the ultimate adventure, but it has a bit of competition now – the day trip. A day trip packs a whole lot of fun into a single day and, if you’re lucky, you’ll only need to fill your car’s tank with gas once before you set off. A day trip to the Winery at Wolf Creek in Barberton, followed by a relaxing stroll by Brandywine Falls in Northfield, offers the perfect way to spend a leisurely day that’s sure to be filled with memorable moments.
Travel time between the Winery at Wolf Creek and Brandywine Falls is surprisingly short, so you won’t have to spend too much time in the car. Google Maps offers two routes that are pretty even when it comes to time and distance. The shorter route will take you 24.2 miles in 31 minutes while the slightly longer route clocks in at 26 miles in 32 minutes.
Even if this day trip isn’t close enough for you to embark on, you’re in luck. Check out these 10 epic day trips – each requiring only a single tank of gas – that will show you a side of Ohio you might not have seen yet.
The Winery at Wolf Creek provides an idyllic starting point for a leisurely day trip – whether you prefer an adults-only day out or you want to bring the kids along. You can even bring your own snacks or a picnic with you.
A thriving winery and vineyard since 1980, The Winery at Wolf Creek also has some furry residents – such as curious and friendly goats – who you might just get to meet during your visit.
Stop by the Tasting Room, where you can sample a delicious selection of wines – dry red wines, dry white wines, and sweet and fruit wines. The tasting room drinks menu also features several beers and cocktails.
If you’re in the mood for a cocktail, try such classics as a Bloody Mary, a Lavender Bee’s Knees, or a Traditional Daiquiri. (Guests are not permitted to bring alcohol with them into the winery.)
Stop by the official website of The Winery at Wolf Creek for more information, including days, hours, and menus, or check out its official page on Facebook.
After you’ve finished at The Winery at Wolf Creek, climb into the car for the short and sweet journey to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, home of Brandywine Falls. Make sure to pack your hiking boots or comfortable shoes, especially if you’re up for a scenic hike.
You’ll find a small parking lot near the waterfall. However, it’s often full, especially during the summer months. If you do find a parking spot, you’ll have a short stroll along a boardwalk to the observation deck.
For a leisurely hike or if you want to avoid the crowds on the boardwalk, park near the Boston Mill Visitor Center. Nearby you’ll find the trailhead for the five-mile loop trail that leads directly to the cascade.
Wine and a waterfall just might be the most perfect pairing, and it goes even better on this picturesque day trip to the Winery at Wolf Creek and Brandywine Falls.
