I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.

Ohio is known for its numerous lakes and beaches(hello, Lake Erie!) that provide a near-endless array of aquatic adventures and recreation. The largest inland beach in Ohio, Alum Creek State Park has a 3,000-ft. sand beach on Alum Creek Reservoir that’s the ultimate playground for water lovers. Known for its calm waters and amazing stretch of shore and sand, you’ll feel as though you’re practically walking on water at this Ohio beach that boasts amazing kayaking, SUP paddleboarding, fishing, and swimming.
Located a stone's throw from the Buckeye State's capital city, Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful boating and camping destination that's relatively unknown to those outside of Columbus, Ohio.
Alum Creek Reservoir is open to fishing, boating, ice fishing, ice boating, and swimming, making it a wonderful option for year-round water recreation in Ohio; an immersive aquatic adventure that's not to be passed up.
When we say "immersive" -- we mean it! Alum Creek is an amazing place for fishing, kayaking, boating, swimming, jet skiing... if you want to get out on the water, this is the place to do it!
The largest inland lake of any Ohio State Park, at full pool, the lake is about 3,269 acres with a maximum depth of about 60 feet near the dam, though much of the water depths ranging from 20 to 40 feet.
Because of its sheer size and out-of-the-way location, the waters in this reservoir are calm and clean, making for superlative water recreation on still and peaceful waters.
Okay, so you can't actually walk on the water of this inland lake in Ohio, but when standing up on a paddle board or navigating your kayak through these waters, you'll definitely feel at one with nature in a wholly wonderful way.
Have you visited Alum Creek State Park before? Did you know it was the largest island beach in Ohio? The aquatic adventures are just the beginning of the fun that awaits at this Ohio State Park!
