Do you have a sense of adventure you need to indulge this summer? If so, there’s a little-known kayak tour that you need to know about. Kayak the Bay on South Bass Island is a one-of-kind experience that’s surprisingly not as challenging as it might sound. One of the best ways to experience the island, this Put-in-Bay attraction will make you feel like you can take on anything.
From the experienced kayaker to the beginner, this is an item that belongs on your Ohio bucket list this summer.
If you've ever dreamed of exploring an island, this is the way to do it. Kayak the Bay is at the west end of downtown harbor, next to Oak Point State Park.
You can also paddle right up to Perry's Monument, which is the third tallest national monument.
If you decide to journey along the west shore of the island, you'll get an up close view of the Benson Ford Houseship, which was designed by Henry Ford for his own personal use.
Today, the four-deck, 7,000 sq. ft. house ship is a Put-In-Bay landmark. This unique home has been featured in multiple television shows and publications such as MTV Extreme Cribs, Home & Garden TV’s Extreme Homes, the Travel Channel, The British Daily Mirror, Ohio Magazine, the National Enquirer and others.
Large groups are welcome, although it's highly recommended that you call ahead. You can even set up a personalized guided tour for your group.
