October in Ohio can be downright spooky—spooky and fun, of course.
All throughout the state, you’ll find unique events and places the whole family can enjoy. (Be sure to check out this jack-o-lantern trail that’s both scary and family-friendly.) During the month of October, Heritage Village Museum in Sharonville features a haunted village where families can go trick-or-treating. If you find yourself near the Cincinnati area this October, it’s well worth a stop. Put on your costume and get ready for some spooky thrills.
Modeled after an early 1800s village, Heritage Village Museum is a one-of-a-kind attraction that showcases what life was like in small town Ohio during the 19th-century.
Fun fact: The village is a collection of historic buildings from the 19th-century that were moved from locations around southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky, according to the museum's website.
During the month of October, the historic village transforms into a haunted village on the weekends. This year, the Haunted Village will take place on October 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26.
You can visit the Haunted Village from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. each evening.

As you make your way through the village, you'll encounter the headless horseman, ghosts, witches, a fortune teller, a mad scientist and other friendly yet frightening characters.
In addition to trick-or-treating through the village, you can listen to historic (and spooky) storytelling, walk through a haunted cemetery, and encounter critters from ZooPro Adventures.
Note: Admission is $10 per person. Museum members, veterans, active duty military and children under 2 are free.
You can even take a ride in a horse drawn wagon through the haunted forest. Classic horror movies will also play each evening at the Gatch Barn and concessions are available.
