We love everything about Ohio’s small towns, from their quaint Main Streets, to their friendly folks. Here’s a little town in Miami County that’s so adorable that it might just steal your heart forever.
The little town of Tipp City was founded in 1840. While it got its start as a rough town with a vibrant red-light district, today it's a quaint, quiet little hamlet that's home to around 9,700 people.
The town was originally named Old Tippecanoe City after president William Henry Harrison, whose Presidential campaign slogan was "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too!" Since another city had already claimed the name Tippecanoe, the town changed over to Tipp City in 1938.
Stop in at Browse Awhile Books, an old-fashioned bookstore that puts those big chain stores to shame. Ask the folks here for a recommendation, and watch their faces light up as they help you find just the right book. You'll find the shop at 118 E. Main Street.
Sam and Ethel's Restaurant has been open for more than 70 years, and it's still going strong. While the original owners are long gone, their legacy remains, and it's still a great place to get a burger or a slice of homemade pie. Visit at 120 E. Main Street.
You're certain to find all kinds of unique treasures in this quaint shop that offers everything from salvaged windows and doors to repurposed antiques like this piano that's been converted into a one-of-a-kind bar.
When you're finished strolling along Tipp City's adorable streets, lace up your hiking boots and head to Charleston Falls Preserve, a 216-acre oasis filled with prairie and forest. It's a tranquil place where you can unwind and enjoy nature.
