10 Things Every Ohioan Secretly Loves But Would Never Admit

Here in Ohio, there are a few things we secretly love, but wouldn’t necessarily admit out loud. For instance, no matter how much we might complain about, grumble or make fun of our seemingly endless fields of corn, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you’re a tried and true Ohioan, you’ll likely be able to agree that these 10 things are things that we all secretly love:
Of course, we don't actually enjoy BEING in Michigan, however, there's a secret sense of satisfaction when we proudly display where we're from while we're there. We know it makes Michiganders uncomfortable...and that's pretty cool.
To be completely honest, it's beautiful. And Ohio just wouldn't be Ohio without it. So no matter how much we might make fun of it, we'd be sad if it wasn't here.

Of course, for the most part, it drives us crazy. But there are days when it genuinely adds some excitement to our day. (I mean, at the very least, it gives us all something to laugh/complain about in unison.)

Sure, it sends us into a panic-induced grocery run for all the bread and milk we can get our hands on, but it's also pretty. And we secretly love being forced to stay home and take it easy. (That is, until it's March and the kids have already had two weeks of snow days...)
It's not hard to spot a tourist in Ohio. It's especially fun to sit back and watch them admire our iconic landmarks. We appreciate them, but most out-of-staters don't realize how awesome the Buckeye State truly is until they get here (and spend more than a couple of hours here in just one spot.)

Frankly, it's kind of funny to watch visitors try and pronounce them. If they were easy to pronounce, we'd get mocked less...but we would also laugh less.
When someone hates on us for this one, all it does is add fuel to the scarlet and gray fire that will never be put out.
Joke about it all you want, but we know the truth of the matter: We're smart. We're REALLY smart. (Your joke is a compliment, really.)

Just kidding—there's absolutely nothing to love about this one.
It might seem like we don't enjoy living here because we often make fun of Ohio, but honestly, it's an expression of love and we wouldn't want to live anywhere else. <3
