When it comes to breaking world records, Ohioans are known for their exceptional abilities to do so—even if that just means baking a really, really big pie. From strange collections to extremely long sports games, our state has set the bar pretty high for potential future world record contenders.
Although you can always count on a giant pumpkin pie to be made in Ohio at least once a year at the Circleville Pumpkin Show, the world's largest pumpkin pie was actually made by the New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers at the New Bremen Pumpkinfest in New Bremen on September 25, 2010. The pie weighed 3,699 lbs. and had a diameter of 20 ft.
The longest marathon of people playing kickball was 51 hours and 0 minutes by students at Padua Franciscan High School in Parma on May 27-29, 2011. The game lasted 474 innings and resulted in a final score of 431-306. This world record was achieved for a good cause, as the event helped raise $10,000 for "Kick-It," an organization that uses kickball to raise funds for pediatric cancer victims.

The largest collection of trolls belongs to Sherry Groom of Alliance. As of October 26, 2012, the collection consisted of 2,990 trolls.

The world's largest meatball was prepared by the Columbus Italian Club during the St. John's Italian Festival in Columbus on October 5 -8, 2011. Only seven members of the association handled the meat before it was cooked. The participants were: Fred Muccio, Mike DiCarlo, Jim Vergalitto, Bill Maselli, Rick Willimott, Chuck Nance and Joe Gigliotti. The meatball weighed in at 1,110.5 lbs. and had a diameter of 4 ft. and 6.5 inches.
