Nestled along the Little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio, is a brick oven restaurant known as The Works. Having been commissioned in the time of steam locomotives, the building has served a variety of roles since the 1900s. Today, the name and ambiance of The Works restaurant pays homage to Loveland’s train history and gives visitors a delicious and historic dining experience in Ohio.
Many people visit Loveland for its small-town charm and natural beauty. Restaurants like The Works have helped preserve historical buildings and give patrons unique places to dine.
When steam trains gave way to diesel, the building was continually transformed first to an electric generating plant and later into a fire station, public works headquarters, and storage facility. It sat vacant for nearly two decades until The Works restaurant once again brought the building back to life.

A mural painted above the kitchen also pays homage to Loveland’s railroad history.
The mural is just some of the artwork that adorns the brick walls of the building. As any of your servers about the history of the other pieces that capture your attention!
Procured from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania behind a battlefield train station, the train car adds to the locomotive history of the restaurant and the city. The car can now be booked for private parties and other events at The Works.
History aside, what draws most visitors to The Works is their wood-fired pizza.
Made in the 600 degree heat of a classic brick oven, diners have the option to create their own pizza or choose from one of the pizzas listed on the menu.
Specialty pizzas include The Breakfast Pizza, topped with scrambled eggs and American cheese, and offerings such as gluten-free crusts.
If you're wanting to try something other than pizza, The Works also has a variety of other menu options including gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, and salads.
Whether it’s the history or the food that brings you to The Works, you’re sure to leave satisfied. Have you been to The Works in historic Loveland? Let us know!
