I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
History is alive and well in the Buckeye State, a place full of well-preserved sites and gorgeous architecture. Those looking to immerse themselves into the past have many options, but nothing quite compares to Sauder Village. The largest historic village in Ohio, Sauder Village has a working farm, reenactments, a street of shops (or, shoppes), and more, inviting guests to take a literal step back in time.
Editor’s note: Sauder Village is open seasonally but hosts special events throughout the year and holidays.
Do you ever feel like you were born in the wrong era? Sometimes I wish I could travel back to the glitz and glam of the Roaring '20s, or, at least, pre-iPhone days.
Other amenities include a restaurant, inn, conference facilities, a campground, bakery, and on-site shopping -- Sauder Village really does have it all.
Those looking to get a sense of what Ohio used to look like will love places like the District 16 School, Grist Mill, and Little Pioneers Homestead; these miniature villages offer an authentic historic experience.
History isn't just in the past; it's unfolding right now, as we live and breathe. Taking a minute to appreciate where we've been, and where we're going, is a humbling and life-affirming experience.
Please note that Sauder Village is open seasonally for tours and visit, but regularly hosts special events and festivals throughout the year. For information on upcoming events or to purchase a membership at this historic village in Ohio, visit the Sauder Village website. And if you’re looking for some accommodations in the area, this historic B&B is incredibly charming!
