I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
I grew up in Milford, Ohio, and while I no longer call this beguiling ‘burb home, I visit often and am always delighted to discover new restaurants in the historic downtown. Padrino is one of them; while this restaurant opened in 2009, it’s the kind of fan-favorite spot that feels as though it’s been around forever… in all the best ways.
There's pretty much nothing that compares to a big bowl of pasta. This is the kind of rustic comfort food that always satisfies, and not only that, but Italian cuisine is a celebration of family as much as it is about food.
In Milford, Ohio, Padrino is a small-town restaurant that's been dishing up some of the best Italian food in the Buckeye State for 15 years. It's a local favorite that's a bit of a hidden gem to those outside the area, but it's one of those magical dining destinations worth a trip no matter where in the state you're located.
After you've been warmly welcomed and led to your table, order some appetizers and peruse the menu. The cheesy bread with house-made marinara is extraordinary and a delicious preview of what's to come!
Of course, it's impossible to review this restaurant without talking about the pizza. Padrino's pizzas have earned the restaurant numerous nods and accolades over the years, and there's an entire menu devoted to these tasty 'zas!
While you can certainly opt for a classic cheese, I recommend springing for something different. Like pizza margherita? Try the Bruschetta. Is meat your love language? Order the Toscano, which features (among other things) cappicola, pepperoni, bacon, and meatballs!
Vegetarian? Same! Try the aptly-named Vegetarian, which has a house-made marinara base, roma tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, peppers, green and black olives, red onion, and hearty handfuls of the house cheese blend. It's my personal favorite and, if I'm feeling extra, I order it with pineapple!
Hearty and soul-filling, try and leave a little room for dessert. For me, there's only one option: the Chocolate Chip Cannoli. It's so good and you'll savor each and every bite! (If you're too full, though, get a few for the road! Your future self will thank you.)
With a belly full of delicious food, stay in downtown Milford and do some window shopping! Milford, Ohio, is a small town that's incredibly charming, and Padrino truly is one of its anchors. Buon appetito!
It’s difficult to remember what downtown Milford was like before Padrino opened up, and hopefully, that’s a scenario we’ll never have to encounter! No matter where you live in Ohio, this small-town restaurant is worth a visit… and sure to become one of your favorite spots to dine.
