I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
The Buckeye State is a delightful place full of small towns and big cities that form a unique patchwork all its own. Each and every one of the “squares” on the Ohio State quilt is worth visiting, whether for a day trip, overnight, weekend getaway, or proper vacation. Nestled just outside Columbus in the heart of Ohio, Westerville is a wonderful place where small-town charm meets big-city swagger. Scenic and sweet, this darling town is sure to capture your heart — and here’s why:
Just north of the hustle and bustle of the Buckeye State's capital city, Westerville is a suburb that, despite being home to some 40,000 residents, manages to maintain a distinct small-town sensibility.
It's the kind of place where there's almost always something happening, from street fairs and art festivals (we see you, Westerville Music & Arts Festival!)...
While the town is just minutes from Columbus and its world-class attractions and big-city swagger, Westerville is *also* a town that stands proudly on its own two feet. Its downtown district is colorful and walkable, full of well-supported local businesses and restaurants.
There's no shortage of great dining options in Westerville, in fact, with Uptown Deli and Brew a local favorite featuring elevated pub favorites and a laid-back atmosphere. Folks rave about the deli sandwiches, with the reuben a particularly tasty standout!

Of course, Westerville is perhaps best-known as the home of Otterbein University, a private liberal arts college with stately architecture, paved sidewalks, and immaculate green spaces... but really, the same can be said of Westerville itself.

Because while this town is bustling and buzzing, Westerville, Ohio, is celebrated for its greenery. It's hailed as a "city within a park," as it's nestled within 6,000 acres of pristine public parkland.
In addition to the parks, gardens, and playgrounds found in Westerville, the town's location on the banks of the Hoover Reservoir makes it well-poised for a variety of aquatic recreation, too. Hoover Adventures is a local outfitter that offers paddling excursions in this beauteous body of water.

Whether you're looking for a day trip, overnight getaway, or weekend adventure, one thing's for sure: Westerville, Ohio, will undoubtedly capture your heart.
Have you been to beautiful Westerville, Ohio, before? It’s truly one of the loveliest little locales in the state! It’s one of my favorite walkable small towns in Ohio!
