I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Ohio is home to some beautiful vineyards and wine-growing regions that rival anything you’d find in California or Italy. None, however, are quite as glorious as Breitenbach Wine Cellars, an impossibly beautiful Ohio winery that feels like something straight out of the European countryside. This extraordinary winery in Dover is a true hidden gem and a must-visit for Ohio oenophiles.
Tuscany and Napa, we'll see your beautiful vineyards and raise you one brilliantly beautiful Buckeye State winery that's straight out of the pristine pastoral countryside of Europe.
Nestled among the rolling, picturesque hills of Ohio’s Amish countryside you'll find Der Marktplatz. This is the home of Breitenbach Wine Cellars, exclusive producer of an extensive array of award-winning grape, fruit, berry, and dandelion wines. Today, Breitenbach produces over 40 varieties of grape and fruit wines with an annual yield of over 150,000 gallons.
Home to a fantastic restaurant and acclaimed vineyard, all wines are made on the premises, and visitors are invited to enjoy a winery tour during the winery's Dandelion May-Fest held the first Saturday of May.
The rest of the year, folks are welcome to come, sip, and savor a slice of Ohio Wine Country that feels arguably more "Europe" than Midwest USA -- in all the best ways.
Dining is a delightful experience at this Ohio winery; there's a rustic indoor dining room as well as lovely outdoor tables, tents, and patio seating. The Winemaker's Barn is another glorious option that allows for an immersive and incredibly scenic dining experience.
The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties here are absolutely delicious, but Breitenbach's fruit-forward varieties are truly exceptional. The Breitenbach Rhubarb is a sweet dessert wine made from natural fruit and it's a tantalizing alternative to your typical rosé!
Pair your wine with a piping-hot wood-fired pizza adorned with your favorite toppings. Call us traditionalists, but we can't think of anything tastier than a Margherita Pizza and glass of red.
You'll definitely want to take a few bottles home with you; happily, Breitenbach Wine Cellars has a robust retail store that carries all of its delicious varieties and vintages!
