I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
The ’90s may be back in style, but we’re all about the ’70s and ’80s. Disco, bell bottoms, tie dye… this is pure retro bliss! In Cincinnati, Ohio, there is a retro bar that celebrates these bygone eras with themed cocktails and disco decor. HomeMakers Bar is a quirky little spot that bills itself as a “slightly retro-mostly modern cocktail bar” — and it’s a delightful throwback sure to take you back in time.
If the technicolor love fest of the 1970s and '80s is your spirit animal, then you'll be right at home at HomeMakers Bar.
In addition to its unique decor, HomeMakers boasts a menu of nontraditional spirits and cocktails featuring lesser-known liqueurs like Italian bittersweet tinctures, herbal and fortified wines, and low-proof libations.
HomeMakers also hosts events that let guests play mixologist. The Gin and Tonic Bar, for example, features a "build your own" set-up with various topics and garnishes, letting each person craft their own bespoke cocktail.
HomeMakers also serves light bites like tacos, crudités and dip (with Ritz crackers, because, the '70s), and even sandwiches. This is the BBQ sandwich, made with a homemade Dr. Pepper barbecue sauce and served with a fresh slaw.
A cocktail bar is, of course, about delicious libations. But it's also about the craft of the drinks, and the celebratory, communal experience of imbibing.
