Here in Ohio, you don’t always have to make reservations and wait in long lines for incredible food. Fortunately, the Buckeye State is home to several fast food joints and local hole-in-the-wall restaurants that serve mouthwatering meals you don’t have to wait long for. Here are 9 of our favorites restaurants in Ohio that are unbelievably fast and satisfying:
If something has been around for more than 80 years, there's a reason why. This popular fast food joint features the world famous Galleyboy, milkshakes and fries. There are three Swenson's locations, with one in West Akron, North Akron and Stow/Kent.
At Bay Lobsters Cafe & Fish Market, you’ll find a wide variety of fresh caught fish you can take home to cook in the comfort of your own kitchen. You can also order freshly cooked meals if you want to stay awhile and enjoy the housemade seafood favorites. Bay Lobsters Cafe & Fish Market is located at 3423 Cleveland Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
At this northern Ohio and Toledo area chain and ice cream parlor, the "famous chili dog" is just $1.90. Just walk up, order and enjoy. Don't miss out on this northern Ohio treat. (Pictured is the Marblehead location at 9410 E Harbor Rd.)
Kewpee Hamburgers in Lima, Ohio is a little-known legend in the fast food world and a beloved treasure among locals. Complete with delicious burgers, frosted malts and a giant baby—yes, a giant baby—dining here is an experience every Ohioan needs to have at least once. Kewpee Hamburgers is located at 2111 Allentown Rd., Lima, OH 45805, 111 N Elizabeth St., Lima, OH 45801 and 1350 Bellefontaine Ave., Lima, OH 45804.
With fresh fish caught daily and cooked with expertise, you will experience what is arguably the best perch sandwich in Ohio at New Sandusky Fish Company. What this restaurant lacks in appearance, it makes up for in quality of food. There's only outdoor seating here — but with a Lake Erie view, it's all you really need. New Sandusky Fish Company is located at 235 E. Shoreline Drive in Sandusky.
"Home of the famous Maid-Rite, Cheese-Rite and Big Jim," this unsuspecting sandwich shop upholds a strange tradition. Visitors stick their chewing gum outside along the "Wall of Gum" and come inside for what is arguably Ohio's best loose meat sandwich. (Pictured: Big Jim.) This unusual eatery is located at 125 N Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.
Some of the most amazing sandwiches are hiding in this humble, carry-out only joint, Capri Sausage & Meatball. (The secret may be in the sauce, as each patty and meatball get a heavenly sauce bath once they're out of the oven.) You'll find it at 1400 University Blvd., Steubenville, OH 43952.
Essentially, you can't go wrong with anything you order at Wilson's Sandwich Shop. The hamburgers, chili dogs, french fries and frosties are all local favorites here. Wendy's has nothing on WIlson's, which is located at 600 S Main St., Findlay, OH 45840.
This walk up window is a late night favorite for Ohio University students. Stop by for lunch, dinner or a late night chicken and waffle sandwich. It is located at 11 W Union St., Athens, OH 45701.
