I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
The Buckeye State is nothing if not beautiful. It’s full of amazing natural wonders and straight-from-a-fairytale places. In Southwest Ohio, however, there is a magical place that’s truly of otherworldly beauty. Cincinnati’s largest city park, Mt. Airy Arboretum is a magnificent collection of trees, foliage, and flowers, tucked inside the eponymous Mt. Airy Forest. It’s lush and lovely; an Eden-like paradise found, against all odds, within one of the largest cities in Ohio.
Have you ever been to a place that's so beautiful, words simply cannot begin to capture its majesty?
At almost 1,500 acres, Mt. Airy Forest is Cincinnati’s largest city park. Established in 1911, it was the first municipal reforestation project in America, in fact.
Mt. Airy Arboretum is a magnificent collection of trees, foliage, and flowers. It's as ravishing in the midst of spring as it is in the height of fall foliage.
The draw of this hidden gem is, quite literally, the trees. There are no fancy playgrounds or gimmicks; it's all about nature here. In fact, the Arboretum is an official observation area where local botanists, gardeners, and students track plant growth and behaviors in the Cincinnati area. Initially conceived in 1930, many individuals and organizations have contributed to its development and preservation.
Botany aside, this park is, quite simply, a wondrous place to visit. Mt. Airy Arboretum features the best of the best in terms of local foliage and plant life. It’s an unexpected urban oasis that reminds us just how glorious and downright magical Ohio truly is... not that we needed further proof.
